MONTREAL -- Thousands of hockey fans jammed into downtown Montreal on Wednesday night after the Canadiens clinched their playoff series against the arch-enemy Boston Bruins to move closer to their first Stanley Cup in more than 20 years. Jamize Olawale Jersey . Droves emerged from downtown bars, while many of the 21,000 people who packed the Bell Centre to watch the Habs 3-1 victory over the Bruins on giant screens also hit the streets. As the game played in Boston came to an end, even Montreal police officers stationed on Ste-Catherine Street pumped their fists in celebratory manner. Outside the Bell Centre after the game, someone put a Bruins jersey on a hockey stick and set it on fire as people began stomping on it. Riot police intervened immediately and hauled it away while a raucous crowd continued cheering and screaming, "We Want the Cup." Some fans set off fireworks in what initially looked like peaceful celebrations. Police reported fewer than 10 arrests, mostly for mischief, less than an hour after the game had ended. Many fans stood on other peoples shoulders and chanted the names of their hockey heroes as police guarded the stores on Ste-Catherine. The victory sent Montreal -- the only Canadian team to make the NHL playoffs this year -- into the Eastern Conference final against the New York Rangers in a series that begins Saturday afternoon. The Canadiens are looking for their first Stanley Cup since 1993. Prime Minister Stephen Harper hailed Montreals victory with a tweet: "Great to see a Canadian team finally take out the Bruins in a game 7." Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau tweeted, "Bravo les boys!" The Bell Centre was a sea of red, white and blue during the decisive match as fans took advantage of $10 tickets to watch the game 500 kilometres away. Some of the proceeds were destined for a Canadiens charity fund for children. There were reports of people selling tickets for $50 in the hours leading up to the game. Mario Trudelle attended the game with his wife, their two children and three other kids. Everyone in the gang was wearing a Canadiens top except one young Bruins fan. "We accept everybody," said Trudelle, who predicted a 4-2 Montreal victory. Team spokesman Donald Beauchamp said the 21,000-odd tickets sold out in two hours. Police were hoping the event wouldnt turn into a repeat of 2010 after fans at the Bell Centre watched the Canadiens eliminate the Penguins in a game played in Pittsburgh. Mayhem ensued in downtown Montreal, with store windows smashed and rioters clashing with police. Police have beefed up their playoff presence in recent years and always have a strong visibility downtown before and after games, particularly for series-deciding matchups. A team spokeswoman confirmed that alcohol would be sold at the Bell Centre on Wednesday night Beauchamp said authorities have done a good job "as far as prevention with what happens post-Canadiens games." "What happened in the past was not necessarily people who were at the venue," he said. "It was people who were not necessarily in the building." Deonte Thompson Cowboys Jersey . After Mondays comments by Coach Claude Noel that its work first and skill second, and that more “A” games are needed, the Jets responded with a 47-shot effort. If not for terrific goaltending by Braden Holtby the Jets would have had two points in regulation. http://www.cowboysrookieproshop.com/Cow ... in-Jersey/ .com) - The 12th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes continue a four-game homestand at Value City Arena on Wednesday night when they face off against the High Point Panthers in a non-conference matchup.INDIANAPOLIS - Chuck Pagano is pushing the Colts to get a grip on their most pressing problem.Otherwise, he fears they could fumble away their post-season dream.Less than 24 hours after putting the ball on the ground four more times at Cleveland, the Indianapolis coach calmly explained again that the Colts need a quick fix.Weve got to get it cleaned up, Pagano said Monday. You credit the opponent for stripping the ball and making plays, but its still no excuse. ... Weve got to get it cleaned up, period. So far, the mistakes have not caused too much damage. Indy (9-4) has won three straight, leads the AFC South by two games and can wrap up its second straight division crown with a win Sunday over Houston (7-6).But the Colts are testing conventional wisdom in a league where the best barometer for success is often turnover margin.Over the past three weeks, Indy has fumbled 13 times, lost seven, and thrown three interceptions. After Sundays games, the Colts were tied for the league lead in fumbles lost (13) and were minus-4 in the turnover margin. Only two teams have a worse turnover margin and a winning record: Kansas City (7-6) at minus-5 and NFC East co-leader Philadelphia (9-4) at minus-6.If the trend continues, nobody understands the ramifications better than quarterback Andrew Luck.Yes, he directed the second-largest playoff comeback in January, a 45-44 victory over the Chiefs. But the three interceptions he threw in that game helped put Indy in the 28-point hole. The next week, at New England, Luck threw four more interceptions and the Colts, predictably, were eliminated.Luck spent the off-season contemplating what he could do better, but lately its looked more like last season.Three weeks ago, against Jacksonville, Luck fumbled four times and lost two. His teammates added to the woes with two more fumbles.Against Washington, Luck lost a fumble on the first offensive play. Indy finished the game with three fumbles, two lost, and one interception. On Sunday, Luck threw two interceptions and fumbled two more times. The Browns recovered Lucks fumble in the end zone and scored on a 23-yard interception return. In some ways, with a quarterback who refuses to give up on plays, Pagano acknowledges it goes with the territorry. Michael Gallup Jersey. ts competitiveness, its will, its all of those things, he said. Theres a ton of plays over the course of the last 2 3/4 seasons that if he (Luck) doesnt hang in there, doesnt do this or that, we dont get our touchdown.Luck isnt the only Colt struggling to get a handle on this problem. Indys top receiver, T.Y. Hilton, lost his first fumble in 202 receptions against Cleveland. Daniel Boom Herron, Indys most effective running back, lost the ball once against Jacksonville and once against Washington. Even the usually sure-handed return specialist Josh Cribbs had the ball knocked out in his former home stadium. All came even after Paganos continual speeches about ball security.Whats wrong?Injuries have certainly taken a toll on a young offensive line and could account for more pressure on Luck, and smaller running lanes.Rookie centre Jonotthan Harrison missed all but 17 plays Sunday after what Pagano described as a burner. Right guard Hugh Thornton has missed the last two games with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his knee. Thorntons replacement, Joe Reitz, was carted off the field Sunday with an ankle injury in the third quarter.Right tackle Gosder Cherilus is playing with a bad shoulder. But Pagano isnt looking for excuses. He expects results over the final three games. If we want to achieve our No. 1 goal, we know we have to win a game on Sunday to do that, to move on and take the next step, Pagano said. But to do what we want to do, weve got to play better.NOTES: Pagano clarified Monday that receiver Reggie Wayne tore the triceps in his left arm when he injured his elbow against Cincinnati in October. The first time Pagano mentioned the triceps injury was during the Colts postgame radio show Monday night. ... Pagano said doctors were still evaluating the injuries to Reitz and Harrison. Thornton is now listed as day to day, an upgrade from his previous status of week to week. ... Cornerback Vontae Davis, who missed Sundays game, will continue to go through the leagues concussion protocol this week. ... Pagano said he expects Xavier Nixon (foot) and linebacker Andy Studebaker (hamstring) to return to practice Wednesday.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Cheap Baltimore Orioles Gear Cheap Boston Red Sox Gear Cheap New York Yankees Gear Cheap Tampa Bay Rays Gear Cheap Toronto Blue Jays Gear Cheap Chicago Cubs Gear Cheap Milwaukee Brewers Gear Cheap Pittsburgh Pirates Gear Cheap Cincinnati Reds Gear Cheap St. Louis Cardinals Gear Cheap Arizona Diamondbacks Gear Cheap Colorado Rockies Gear Cheap Los Angeles Dodgers Gear Cheap San Diego Padres Gear Cheap San Francisco Giants Gear ' ' '
